Sanctuary Cleaning TODAY! Volunteers are needed from 1pm-3pm today to help clean the sanctuary to prepare for in-person worship. Dennis Broughton and the Property Team have been working hard and as a result we are pretty dusty. If you want to help us clean up please call or email the church office.

In-Person Worship to RESUME on Sunday, October 4! The Church Council has decided to resume in-person worship on Sunday October 4 at 10:00 am and at 5:30 pm. In offering two Sunday options, the Church Council hopes that everyone can be accommodated in attending Sunday worship in-person if they so desire. ON-LINE worship will continue also. As with our re-opening earlier this summer, the Church Council will keep watch on COVID-19 case numbers and should our area re-enter into a spike, the Church Council will do what is best for our community. When returning to in-person worship everyone will need to follow the following practices:

  1. If you are not feeling well or have a fever – remain at home!
  2. Sanitize your hands at the entrance of the building.
  3. Wear a mask/face-covering at all times (except when moving it to receive Holy Communion).
  4. Socially distance and refrain from all hand shaking or hugging.

We look forward to seeing you in person when you are ready to return!

Let’s Talk – Exploring Racial Justice as God’s People Jesus noticed those on the edges of society – Jesus welcomed the powerless and the vulnerable—Jesus showed God’s heart toward all people. Yet, racial issues continue – including in our nation. One of the key paths forward is honest listening and reflection. If you would like to be part of such an effort, join Pastor Rhoades in a book study of “I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness” by Austin Channing Brown. The group will read the book and gather for six discussion sessions. The hope for goal is expanding our understanding for the sake of following the path of Jesus’ love in a difficult world. SIGN UP today to order your copy of the book for $20 and to participate. The group will begin on October 4, at 4:00 pm.

THANK YOU for being good stewards! September 30th marks the end of the third quarter of 2020. Your generosity has helped sustain the congregation’s ministry in making a difference in our community and the world. THANK YOU for your continued faithfulness!

Thank You! FeedGalveston Success! Thanks to all our volunteers, we packaged and delivered over 51,000 servings of nutritious food to the Galveston County Food Bank for our food insecure neighbors in Galveston County. The need for food has only increased during the COVID-19 pandemic – your support has made a difference to numerous families and individuals!  Special thanks to our Boy Scout Troop 123 for their awesome support and attentiveness to detail in helping all during this event!

HOME Holy Communion Package: As we have entered into a time of observing weekly communion virtually in our homes, you may contact the Church Office to receive a package of wafers for the celebration of Holy Communion. A bag with a month’s supply will be brought out to your car while observing safe practices. Luther reminds us that the sacrament is valid when we trust the promise of Christ in the sacrament. And, as we confess belief in the communion of saints, we trust God’s presence in our virtual gatherings for worship. Please contact the Church Office as 409-762-8477 to arrange for your package of wafers.
