Welcome to First Lutheran's youth ministry page! Faith formation is important at all ages and we work to provide a great community of support for families. Whether you've just welcomed a baby into your family or you have a teenager looking for leadership opportunities, we have programs designed for you.
If you have questions about these groups, please contact Pastor Rhoades: revrhoades@firstlutherangalveston.com
This group gathers once a month with families of children 0-3 years old. We learn about the earliest steps of faith and provide community for growing families. With age appropriate activities, celebration of milestones, bible stories and more, this group helps to minister to the future leaders of the church.
For children from Pre-K to 6th grade, we offer children's faith formation. Right now, our weekly lessons are online and can be found on our Kids' Mission page. Our current unit is Bible Time Travel, in which we invite children to learn about the bible stories through play and imagination.
Children in this age bracket are also invited to bring their parents and siblings to Family Sunday. This is a once per month gathering right after a Sunday worship service. It can be attended in person or virtually. Family Sunday invites families to prayer, bible time, crafts and fellowship.
Middle school and high school students are invited to be part of our youth group. This group helps our youth step into leadership roles and take an active role in their faith. Youth work together to complete fund raisers, plan service projects, learn how to plan worship and bible studies, and join together for fellowship with friends.
Once every three years, our high schoolers go to the ELCA's National Youth Gathering (a week long experience with 30,000 other high schoolers from other ELCA churches). The next gathering will be in the summer of 2022.
